Erie Canalway Trail (Buffalo Harbor State Park to Hertel Avenue)

In May 2014, the Outer Harbor became the 180th State Park in New York, and the first one to be located within Buffalo's city limits. These 190 acres (77 ha) of waterfront land incorporate the already-existing '''Gallagher Beach''' and {{marker|type=see|name=Small Boat Harbor|lat=42.848864|long=-78.8

For now, visitors to the park can enjoy all of the foregoing plus a walking trail, a free carousel and a slate of special events, but when construction wraps up in 2016, there will also be picnic facilities, improved fishing access, and a redesigned breakwall off the Small Boat Harbor with pedestrian access, reminiscent of the West Side's '''Bird Island Pier'''.
