Committed to build the first chapel in Colne, opened in 1777 by his friend, John Wesley, who preached at Southfield several times. Fulfilled a promise to Wesley and built th

is chapel within the farm buildings in 1797. Buried in St Bartholomew's, Colne. Memorial in the church.
