The National War Memorial is a 25-foot stone pillar dedicated to post-Independence war heroes. It is surrounded by a garden and has paved pathways. The memorial was funded entirely by the citizens of Pune, under the sponsorship of the Express Citizens' Forum. The foundation was laid in November 1997
and inaugurated in October 1998.
