The synagogue building was built in 1919 for a congregation by immigrants primarily from Vilna, Lithuania. The synagogue closed in the 198

0s and has since been repurposed as The Vilna Shul – Boston’s Center for Jewish Culture, a cultural center, community center, and living museum with a focus on Jewish history.
