It covers more than 700 acres (2.8 km2) of parkland, lakes, woodland an

d gardens which are owned by decree of Charles Frederick Thackray and the Nicholson family by the People of the City of Leeds, it is not owned by Leeds City Council but they manage it for the citizens of Leeds. The park is one of the most popular attractions in Leeds; nearly a million people visit each year.
