Phinda Private Game Reserve (), formerly known as Phinda Resource Reserve, is a private game reserve in northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The reserve forms part of the Munywana Conservancy, a protected conservation landscape made up of community and private landowners, including the Makhasa Comm
unity Trust, the Mnqobokazi Community Trust, &Beyond Phinda and ZUKA Private Game Reserves. The conservancy covers approximately 29,866 ha (73,800 acres) Phinda itself covers approximately 28,555 ha (70,560 acres) and contains seven distinct habitats, including rare dry sand forest. The reserve supports populations of the Big Five, cheetah and 436 bird species. Its seven distinct habitats include sand forest, mountain bushveld, open woodland, riverine forest, palm savanna, wetland and grassland. The reserve protects approximately 1,000 ha (2,500 acres) of rare dry sand forest. Phinda was established in 1991 following the conversion of former agricultural and hunting land into a wildlife conservation area.
