The building is part of the Paradise redevelopment scheme in the city centre and is designed by Glenn Howells Architects. As of October 2025, it is the tallest building in the city and according to its dev

elopers "the world’s first pure octagonal residential skyscraper". Due to its unique design, The Octagon has become a landmark building for the city. The tower houses 364 homes, being 1 bed, 2 bed and 3 bed apartments.
