30 Assault Unit. Secret intelligence-gathering Royal Marine and Royal Navy Unit, that took part in the D-Day landings of 1944 during the Second World War, frequented this Public House. Former members of The 30 Assault Unit use ‘The Marine’ as a base for their annual reunion.
