This dormant stratovolcano, near [[Davao]] on [[Mindanao]], is the highest mountain in the Philippines at 2,954 meters (9,692 ft) and a popular climbing destination. It is also one of the most diverse areas; it is home to over 272 bird species, 111 of which are endemic to the area. The mountain also
has four major lakes, these lakes are famous mountaineers' camping sites and a stopover towards the peak.
