Constructed at an altitude of approximately 914.4 metres (3,000 ft) above sea level in the Eastern Ghats, it serves as a multipurpose project provi
ding hydroelectric power, irrigation, and drinking water to southern Odisha. The dam is considered one of the most significant infrastructure achievements in the region due to its strategic location, design, and socio-economic impact.
