Former Alma Wool Scouring Works. Wool scouring works were established in 1861 by Peter Nettleton, who also built his bluestone villa on this site. His fellmongery became a major local industry, with 3,000 sheepskins being processed weekly by 1870. The washing and soaking processes severely polluted

the river. The basement arcades of the woolshed by the river bank are architecturally significant. The Alma Wool Scouring Company operated at the site from 1920 to 1980. Collingwood Historical Society
