Foxhall. On this spot stood Foxhall, the first substantial house in Blackpool, built c. 1670 by Edward Tyldesley. Edward's son, the diarist Thomas, had Foxhall until his death in 1715. By the 1780's Foxhall had become dilapidated and it's eastern end became a farm while the end near the sea became a
lodging house. In the 1800's it was extended to become a public house and between 1840 and 1885 Richard Caton was landlord. It was then purchased by Tom Lockwood who added a concert hall. In 1890 Fox
