OPERATION OVERLORD This slipway was constructed for the embarkation of troops and equipment of the 4th Infantry Division of the VII Corps of the United States 1st Army upon their departure from this harbour for the D-Day landings on the beaches of Normandy, Tuesday 6th June 1944.
