This tablet is erected by the Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution as a memorial to the soldiers and patriots of the revolution who suffered in this building as prisoners of war during the occupation of philadelphia by the British Army, 1777-1778. And also to commemorate the evacuation of
the city by that army june 19, 1778.
