John Campbell, a Revolutionary War officer, and a Ky. pioneer and statesman. Boone, Kenton, parts of Pendleton and Bracken counties later taken from Campbell

County. In 1796 county seat was established at Newport and in 1840 moved to Alexandria. — Alexandria, Courthouse lawn, US 27
