Cet édifice a été construit sous l'impulsion de l'abbé Gaudefroy par l'architecte Barthélémy. La prremière pierre a été posée le 4 mai 1840, le choeur a été béni le 15 août 1842, et la bénédiction générale a eu lieu en octobre 1844.
