Arthur Herbert Procter VC 1890-1973 born in Bootle. Awarded the Victoria Cross for bravery in the First World War. Later ordained priest and served at St. Stephen's Church, Hyde and from 1946-1951 as Rector of St. Mary's Church, Droylsden.
