Ann Boleyn's Well red plaque

Ann Boleyn's Well. A romantic tradition alleges that a blow from the hoof of Anne Boleyn's horse caused the spring (now dry) to rise. However, "Bullen's Well" more likely refers to "Bolonia" or "Boulogne", the Count of Boulogne was lord of the manor in the 12th century. The well may have been near a

chapel dedicated to "Our Lady of Boulogne". — All Saints’ Churchyard, High Street, Carshalton
